T.J. Coveyou is the Co-Founder and CEO of Newport Capital, a leading private lending platform that provides capital to owners and developers of residential and commercial real estate assets across the capital stack. In this capacity Mr. Coveyou also serves as the Head of the Investment Committee and oversees all operations of the lending platform.

Mr. Coveyou is also a Managing Partner at Newport Real Estate Partners, a fully integrated real estate private equity firm with offices in Newport Beach, New York and San Francisco Bay Area among other locations. Mr. Coveyou has over two decades in commercial real estate experience including fund management and property acquisition, management and disposition.

At Newport Real Estate Partners, Mr. Coveyou has been instrumental in building the operating platform of a series of funds at Newport that have sourced more than 1000 distressed properties between 2009 and 2012. In addition, under Mr. Coveyou’s guidance, Newport has expanded its investment offerings to include funds comprising of commercial income properties and urban funds that invest in working class neighborhoods.

Mr. Coveyou received his MBA in Strategic Management from Temple University, after graduating cum laude with a B.S. in Marine Transportation from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, where he was appointed Regimental Commander. He has also served as a Third Mate in the Merchant Marine and as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, working in more than 20 countries around the world.
